Recall, that when you create a clone of a VM that is is an exact copy of the original VM. Create a Clone in vSphere is a pretty easy process:
Right-click on the VM and select Clone.
Enter a name for the VM, select the location and then click Next.
Select a host or cluster that you will run this new VM on.
Our configuration we will select standalone host.
We do not have a cluster.
Select a resource pool for the VM to run.
Select the datastore location.
Select the format for the VMs disk.
Same format as source: Use the same format as the source VM
Thick Provision Lazy Zeroed: The disk space for the VM will be reserved when the VM is created. Older data on the storage device will only be cleared when new data is written to the disk for the first time.
Thick Provision Eager Zeroed: The disk space for the VM will be reserved when the VM is created. Older data on the storage device is wiped clean. This takes longer due to having zeros written to the entire disk.
Thin Provision: The disk space that is required is only used and grows as more space is required.
Customize the VM as needed
Review and select to power on once completed.
